With 43 years of full time charter fishing off Miami Florida Bouncer has a pretty good idea on what is happening and should be coming up on the south Florida fishing scene.

He runs charters for swordfish, sailfish, wreck species, snook and tarpon day and evenings aboard his 33 foot Dusky. He can be reached at www.captbouncer.com

Big news, stop the presses. Boats from Miami to Boca reported limit catches of dolphin on Thursday. Scattered sailfish and wahoo had anglers on their toes as well. Inshore there were reports of loads of mullet headed south from Palm Beach. These mullet will drag, snook, tarpon, pompano, bluefish and ladyfish along with them.

8-28-09
It has been a slow week due to all the kids going back to school. We caught a swordfish on Sunday about 150 pounds on the bottom in 1830 feet of water. Today we recieved a report of loads of bonito off Key Biscayne along with a few kings. We have a full moon next week, which should signal some big wahoo coming our way. Snapper fishing is good in the evenings along various reefs.

8-17-09
We only did a couple evening trips this week. We caught a few small snook each trip. Other boats reported some nice dolphin, a few kings and a sailfish here and there. Last weekend we went cubera snapper fishing with live lobsters for bait and caught 7 fish from 20 to 40 pounds.

8-3-09
Fishing has been very good this week. We have been catching and releasing plenty of snook to 25 pounds and a few tarpon of the same size on live bait around the inlets.

In 75 to 200 feet of water the action has centered around bonito, but we have added several kingfish each trip and a couple sails through the week.

The boats that have fished offshore have averaged about 15 dolphin per day and along a strong color change in 200 to 300 feet of water the boats trolling deep baits have caught some nice wahoo.

THE KINGS AND BONITA HAVE BEEN EATING LIVE THREADFIN HERRING AND SARDINES IN 100---150 FEET JUST SOUTH OF GOVERNMENT CUT. THERE HAS BEEN A GOOD DOLPHIN BITE IN 1200 FEET RIGHT OUT FRONT OF ALL OF OUR LOCAL INLETS. LIVE BAIT IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS RIGHT NOW. THE MUTTON SNAPPER FISHING HAS BEEN EXCELLENT FROM ALLIGATOR LIGHT IN THE KEYS ALL THE WAY TO BOYNTON BEACH ANGLERS ARE USING LIVE PILCHARDS AND SARDINES ON LONG LEADERS WITH HEAVY LEADS TO GET THE BIG MUTTONS TO BITE. ALSO, ANGLERS DO NOT NEED TO RUN FAR TO FIND A BEND IN THERE ROD. KINGFISH FROM 8-20 LBS HAVE BEEN SOLID NORTH OF HILLSBORO INLET UP PAST THE MARTINI GLASS , ALONG WITH LOADS OF BIG BONITAS. DEAD BAIT WILL WORK WELL ( FROZEN SARDINES, MULLET ).

7-3-09
I heard reports of great kingfish action off Haulover Inlet. Mutton snapper and yellowtails in 40 feet of water are very good. Snook are chewing in all the inlets. Happy 4th of July!

6-19-09
We spent the week in Bimini catching loads of dolphin and yellowtails. On the way home we used our Raymarine radar to locate birds and then caught schoolie dolphin 20 miles off Miami and 2 miles off Miami. We also got two jumps out of a 350 pound blue marlin and caught loads of big jacks in Bimini. It was a week of super fishing

6-15-09
Reef fishing has been slow in Miami this week. Head offshore for dolphin. The best action was around 15 miles today, Friday. Some of the fish were up to 20 pounds, but most were assorted sized schoolies. Tarpon are still biting around the inlets.

6-5-09

This has been a great week for fishing the edge. Waters from 75 to 200 feet have produced big blackfin tuna, sails and a few kings. We had a 150 pound yellowfin tuna strike a herring on the kite yesterday, but he missed the bait. The dolphin are playing hide and seek, but should turn on any day. Tarpon are still hot around the inlets and along the beaches from Miami to Islamorada.

5-29-09
Yesterday (5/28/09) we had big tarpon bitting live crab, mullet, and chunks of kingfish aroound the inlet all the way to Islamorada. In 100 ft of watter we were catching 30 lb Blackfin Tuna, loads of Kings, and scattered Sailfish. There has been fair Dolphin fishing from the edge of blue watter out to 12 miles off shore. There have also been reports of good Swordfish action in the day time.

5-15-09
Sailfish and blackfin tuna are solid in 100 to 200 feet of water. Mixed in there are some nice kings and a few dolphin of all sizes. Kite fishing with live bait is the way to catch them all. Tarpon are still very active in the inlets and along the beaches. Live crabs or shrimp will bring the strikes.

5-1-09

Too many kingfish that was the cry today on the VHF radio. The kings were solid from Fowey Rock Light to Miami Beach in 80 to 150 feet of water. Mixed in there were sailfish, dolphin and bonito. Some days have been spiced with big blackfin tuna. Live bait on kites has been the way to get plenty of action. What a place to live. This week single boats have caught more than 20 sailfish in a day, too many kings, dolphin to 40 pounds and giant bluefin tuna sightings. Inshore one boat caught 8 snook in an hour and trout are very good north of Government Cut.

4-29-09

The sailfish, dolphin and tuna were snapping Thursday morning. Then slow for most of the afternoon. And then good again just before dark. The best action was in 120 to 200 feet of water. Trout and bonefish have been good in the bay. Tarpon were off this week because they were offshore spawning. They should be back by the weekend.

4-17-09

Fishing is hot. The small to medium dolphin are solid in 100 to 300 feet of water. Even a few big ones to get you excited. Sailfish, tuna, bonito and kings to 40 pounds just make the kite fishing even more fun. Inshore trout and tarpon are drawing a lot of attention. Use rubber or stimulant baits for the trout and shrimp, crabs or mullet for the tarpon.

4-13-09
Sailfish have been hitting like crazy. Fish live bait under a kite in 90 to 180 feet of water and hang on. Use number 4 or 5 wire leaders because big kings have jouined the fun. Tarpon are now eatting crabs and shrimp at inlets from north Miami to Islamorada. Trout fishing is pleasing bay fishermen.

3-27-09
High winds made for very few fishermen this week. Those who got out reported lots of dolphin from 3 to 30 pounds. Action remained good through today, but the winds need to slow down for anglers to enjoy the action.

3-20-09
There's been red hot Sailfish and Dolphin action in 100 to 200 feet of water with schoolies up to 40 pounds. Also some scattered kings. On Thursday we caught an awesome White Marlin in about 200 feet. Inshore there has been a great shrimp run in the bay. Tarpon action in the bay has been phenomenal. We've also seen some good trout action with the occasional Bonefish.

3-13-09
Sailfish have really turned on good. They are biting off Miami in 120 to 200 feet of water. The best method is live bait under a kite. A few dolphin, bonito and tuna spiced up that action. In areas with less current the kingfish ruled the seas. Pilchards were the bait of choice. Inshore the trout action was very good on the grass flats of Biscayne bay and spanish mackerel began their spring migration north. Those mackerel were found in waters of 30 feet or less with plenty of chum and live shrimp or pilchards.

3-4-09

March has roared in with a blast of winter. Sailfish action should be even better with more fish pushed south by this weather. Kingfish were very active over the last week in 75 to 120 feet of water.

The last couple of years have seen big runs of dolphin and tarpon in March, so keep these fish on your target list this week. It has been a good winter for shrimp and the the cold weather gets them moving as well. Tight lines, ,Bouncer
